Postcrossing is a project allowing you to send and receive postcards all over the world. Postcrossing has been featured on stamps in quite a few countries around the world too.

I signed up a couple of weeks ago. It will something I do on the side as I like the relationships I have through my letters more than a postcard from a stranger. But it is such a neat site, and so far some cool postcards and very nice "thank you" notes from receivers. I totally understand the appeal.

I've been a member on Postcrossing for about 6 months now and I quite enjoy it, It's pretty cool that complete strangers will take the time and effort to brighten someones day. Not enough of that in the world today!

I love Postcrossing! It's probably the only website I'm truly on each and every day.

I visit almost daily the forum there. I don't send many postcards these days but Postcrossing will always have a soft spot in my heart.

I used to really enjoy Postcrossing but haven't done it for a couple of years now since my working hours were reduced I simply couldn't afford the postage so decided to just concentrate on letters. I fully intend to start again in the future if I get another full time job though

Yes, I think it was around 2012 as I was working in the other post office then.

Postage is really high in Canada, so I don't think I'll join. But if I did, what do people normally write on the postcard? It seems like a really odd thing to do, send short notes to someone you don't know. I typically write pretty long letters to pen pals I write to over the course of years.

Unfortunately, some just write the ID for the postcard. Some write a little more - Happy Postcrossing, others try to squeeze in a lot more, plus variations in between. Some talk about family, some about the postcard, some even about where it is going to - e.g. they've been there on holiday, or something. Some of the accounts are for children, unborn too, as well as pets or even plants!

Living in quite a touristy area I would often send postcards with local scenery on and write a bit about that particular area or, in the case of Alnwick Castle or the other castles in the area, something about the history of the place. One particular postcard with Warkworth Castle on sent around Halloween time had the story of the Grey Lady on it I always tried to make the postcards interesting and wouldn't even consider just writing the card number and something like Happy Postcrossing on it That would be barely worth the price of the stamp! great-castles.com/warkworthghost.php

Over 36 million postcards have been sent through the main site. Wow.

I've been a member for 4 or 5 years, but I'm a bit fed up, as I never get postcards anymore, although I send one or two every month. I guess not all people there are truly committed

I dropped out after about a year, since for me a letter is better value for money; the same (expensive) postage for a single terse postcard would send a letter replete with my fulminations and boring stories, along with the occasional tuck-in. I was also deterred by the very specific and demanding postcard specifications. Plus, I'm more interested in getting to know people, rather than merely being wished "happy post crossing".
