I recently joined as research for the program I am presenting at my library on the “Lost Art of Letter Writing.” I think I am addicted. My first two cards have arrived at their destinations, so now I get to receive some.

I'm a bit unsure so far on my thoughts of post crossing, one should have arrived on tuesday (UK) but nothing and the others were all over the world, its the one thing about these things that i'm not sure i like i think i'd rather it was more UK based or the ability to select some countries

l was a postcrosser for a while. I got a couple of nice cards but found that about the only countries I got to send to were Russia and China. It seemed like the Chinese recipients seldom registered the postcards so I'm not sure they were ever received. Also postcards were one off with limited information about the sender. I gave up on poscrossing and starting letter writing which I find much more satisfying. I suppose it might be fun if you were into postcard and stamp collecting.

I think that’s my problem I ticked the same country box and got 1 UK 1 USA and 1 Russia but looking at the stats there are way more Russian members than even US members etc

I think that’s my problem I ticked the same country box and got 1 UK 1 USA and 1 Russia but looking at the stats there are way more Russian members than even US members etc And now that the US can’t send mail to Russia, all the other countries, like yours, are now probably getting an influx of addresses to Russia, to make sure that all the Russians, waiting for postcards get matched. I also found Postcrossing a little frustrating at the beginning, because you had to wait so long for your cards to arrive, before you could send other ones. But pretty quickly you’re allowed to send more and more cards, and it becomes more fun because you can send a card whenever you want. I also found that the more ideas you give people for the types of postcards that you’d like to receive, the more amazing and unexpectedly cool postcards you get. And the more you write about yourself and in your profile, the more people seem to write on their postcards to you. Yeah, sure, occasionally you still get a blah card, or one that just says “Happy Postcrossing” but for me, those are very rare. I also started doing little watercolor doodles on my postcards too (they’re not always great, because my art skills are questionable - but if they’re too ugly, that’s okay, I just send them away and never have to look at all my mistakes again, haha!). Hopefully the recipient will get a laugh or a smile out of them, too. But creating a little bit of art for each person, has me enjoying sending postcards just as much as receiving them. Anyway, I enjoy Postcrossing. I haven’t had time to send any cards since before Christmas, but since I’m off work today, maybe I’ll send some out before the blizzard hits this afternoon. Thanks everyone, this thread was a great reminder of how much I enjoy it, and that I should get back into it!
