On the bus to and from work when I feel like it (surprisingly, I'm usually awake enough at 6.20 am ), after work on the couch and on weekends all day. Or not at all. I need to feel at peace, time of day doesn't matter so much for me, I guess.

It wouldn't bother me either, if someone assumed I was male! In fact, I would smile about the mistake and wonder in what crazy country Lianne is a man's name I'm trying to improve my keeping track of the letters I send and ask some time later if he/she really did receive my letter. Before, I kept forgetting to log, so I might have lost some early penpals because my letter had never been received. Now it bothers me thinking about that, so I try to keep track better for present and future penpals

Interesting thoughts!
Maybe a mix of Postcrossing and more traditional websites? In the way that the match isn't random, but you must get some "credits" for receiving a letter. Maybe with "rules" about what a minimal letter contains?

That's horrible!! I recently placed my first order and was a happy customer. Did just check our shared account, because what you described could easily have happened to us - luckily, no Vistaprint charges found.

I love to receive a letter with some info about the sender - I think I don't even mind mini-cv's as long as they don't feel 'copied' over and over. Especially hobbies and interests (or a few!) are nice to know, because they can start a conversation. A fun story and questions are always appreciated too.
I kind of wrote what I like to receive - some basics about me, some hobbies and then a story/ recent activity and one or two questions I guess.
More letters than I wished were very superficial and told me next to nothing about the sender, which doesn't motivate me to write back really...

Legally, I guess the sender in most ways.
Emotionally, I agree with nevamo - the recipient got it from me, so it's theirs. I see it as a gift and don't feel like I should have a say in whether it will be stored or trashed. Honestly, I don't care, as the value was in my thoughts and not in the ink & paper that I used.

I can only freely use a notebook for unpretty notes when it's a refillable system and the refills I got for it are cheap. So stupid!

I bought Diamine Marine (loved the sample I had) and Diamine Teal. How do you find the Teal? The colour's nice but I find it a VERY dry writer. I got the Teal and inked up one of my AL-stars. I don't think it's dry at all! Flows nicely, no start-up problems after a few day pause either... What are your problems with it?

Does anyone know a European shop that sells samples? I only know Appelboompennen.
Shannon, I was curious about Flamingo Pink - if you remember, please write to me with it some time! 🙂

I can't find them. Saw the correspondentie kaarten, but I am not sure if they are what I am looking for. Unfortunately they don't mention the grammage in the shop. That would be interesting to know. Tell us about your experience, Joy, when you've bought them, please. On the Dutch website people review the cards and say they use them to make their own postcards. Nobody mentioned painting on it, but they do say they are nice to use rubber stamps on. That's all I know!

Looks lovely! I've got one drawer stuffed with ink in their boxes... I had decided it's full so I couldn't buy more before finishing a bottle, but guess what I just bought? *sigh* I recognize the problem. Being from the Netherlands I really have to correct the omission of not owning at least one of those wonderful Akkerman inks. Shocking Blue is high on my list, but indeed: no space in my drawer... I should be equally ashamed... I don't own Akkerman inks either... I bought Diamine Marine (loved the sample I had) and Diamine Teal. Pre-ordered the new Lamy pacific blue 2017 too. I had way more ink on my list, so I'm still kind of proud of myself, lol! (and I ordered a ballpoint - yes, I did! To write on the supercheap paper at work without the need to use those disposable pens.. it's a Kaweco AL raw, matching my work fountain pen!!)
