I just flushed and reinked a bunch of pens today. I am really enjoying De Atramentis document Fog Grey. Actually addressing mail with a fountain pen is a joy! (It’s bulletproof.).
Also in love with Sailor Shikori Yozakura - a gorgeous pale lavender.
What is everyone else using right now?

Too many pens inked. I am currently in love with plain old Sheaffer Red. Seriously. No fancy bottle, no fun name, just red.

Oh. I forgot. My sister got me a sample of Blackstone Blue Cypress and it might be love. Beautiful sheen, I even got a little on regular copy paper.

Currently I am using the Birmingham ink samples that I ordered from Birmingham Pen Company ( formerly x-founatin pens ). They are a small company in Pittsburgh, PA and have recently come out with a line of inks. So far I have tried
1. Andrew Carnegie Steel Blue 2. Point Park Fountain Turquoise 3. Fort Pitt Blockhouse Sepia
These three have a subdued, kind of dusky look which I like very much. All three seem to be well behaved.

I'm using Allegheny River Twilight and George Westinghouse Alternator Crimson. The Allegheny River Twilight is also dusky. The colors seem quite similar, but they're not. Does that even make sense?

I think it makes perfect sense once you've tried the inks. The Steel Blue and the Turquoise are surprisingly similar except the turquoise has a little more green. I have a feeling that a few others I ordered will also be very similar. I'm good with that because I do like that dusky look. I think I'll have to get the Fred Rogers Cardigan Red. I'm not a big fan of red inks but have a soft spot for Mr. Rogers. This way I'll have an ink to go with the Mr. Rogers stamps that are to be released this year .

I may have purchased a sample of that one...my mom is from Latrobe, PA, which is where Mr. Rogers is from. Mr. Rogers is buried in the same cemetery as my grandparents.

And what possible instigation could I have provided for Birmingham inks... says he who just got the five new colors the day the email for them came in. Mind you I still haven't figured out which pen to actually try these in, apart from Alternator in my long-wanted-finally-got-a-deal-on-it Kaweco Liliput.

Those Birmingham inks look lovely. I may have to spend more money on inks now.

He's done a good job of coming up with a distinctive line. Most are "antique" looking muted colors. So if you're into bright, you could limit your purchases ;) A lot of them are grey or black, is the only part I scratch my head about. Gorshin is supposed to be green but I don't see it. This is HP 32# paper, though: it's usually a good benchmark but some subtleties that show up on, say, Rhodia or copy paper, might not show up on it. Sailor Sei-Boku is the one where I saw a big difference. It's green-teal on HP, and blue-teal to blue-black on other paper. I got all of these when they were on sale either half price (most of 'em) or $6 (the new 5 colors).

Several of them do seem to be quite similar. I agree with you about the Gorshin Riddle Green. My swab has slightly more green than yours but writing with it, it just looks black. It reminds me a lot of the Chesterfield Antique Jade that they used to sell.
