I’m intrigued except for the recommendation of exchanging a minimum of 1-2 letters per month. I’d never be able to do that. Some of you have been waiting months for a single letter from me. I agree, that really puts me off, and I couldn't really commit to that. I have a life, and sometimes it just takes over (not always in a good way, unfortunately!) - then my friends have to wait for letters. I believe that the site is mostly aimed at people who are completely new to writing to penpals... and probably at those who love to just exchange shorter notes and get excited by the very thought of having a piece of personal mail in their postbox.
Also... writing by hand doesn't necessarily mean that someone is thoughtful. I've had some rubbish letters (insensitive / unreflected / one-sided) in the past that were written in long hand and some very thoughtful, deep and insightful letters that came typed.

Yeah, there's no way I could do that. I have a couple penpals whose replies arrive almost immediately after I send them letters, and I just want to ask "HOW? WHY?"

Just had a look at the Global Penfriends site, and it seems they are making changes again. At the moment, I can see all my conversations, but there's a note on top saying that 'Basic Members can only see their 5 last conversations' - you can get a once off full mailbox upgrade for 10 USD, though. So, I suppose that's what they will implement next. *Sigh* I'm already annoyed with the 3 messages system on Penpal World, and if Global Penfriends starts going down a similar route, I can't see myself staying very active there. I know they have to make some money, and of course, it's their platform, so they make the rules, but my guess is that this policy will bring less traffic to their site. People will exchange e-mail addresses very quickly and stop sending messages to each other on the platform. Ah well. It's not that I'm in dire need for new contacts
