Has anyone intentionally waited to post the letters they've written? Recently, I have just because I usually don't have a lot of letters to reply to. I wait a day or two then send.

I do it all the time as I can't say for sure when I'm going to be able to leave the house, so if If I know I'm going to have 3 replies this week I'll get them all written first so when I am able to get out they all get posted together. To be honest even if I could get out everyday I'd probably do the same as I don't like making more than one trip to the same place unless I have to, plus I figure most of my pen pals don't mind waiting a few extra days for their letters. My normal reply times vary so much anyway depending on whats happening at home.

I have thought if I send all the same day I get a lot back about the same time. I try to write and send and possibly they come back more spaced. Just my theory, I know it does not necessarily work that way with others schedules involved. I keep stamps, including the international ones, so I do not have to go in the post office unless it is a package. All have their own system.

I tend to post letters as soon as I've written them as I keep a few international and UK stamps in my writing drawer. The shop I work in has a small post office counter at the back and I'll usually be in there four/five days a week anyway so it's not like I have to make a special journey to post stuff. It also gives me a chance to get them popped on the scales and checked if I've written more than usual When I first moved to rural Northumberland in October 2004 our nearest post office was 9 miles away and only open three days a week so, as I hadn't passed my driving test then, my letters did often have to wait until Neil had a day off and he could drive me up to the village.

When I'm traveling, I'll write letters and then mail them when I get home. If I know my granddaughters are coming over soon, then I'll save some letters up because they enjoy popping them into the mailbox (especially when there are letters in the pile for themselves). Otherwise, as soon as there are stamps on hand then into the post it goes.

It's nice to include your granddaughters in (posting) letters!
My nearest post office is 2 blocks away, so I'm usually posting them straight away when they're ready.

I currently have five letters to post and will have to wait until Tuesday morning to post them as I've ran out of stamps and I don't get paid until that day *27th*

They get posted if I can catch the last collection of the day or earlier. If not, then letters will have to wait until the next day or, if at the weekend, then for Monday.

Last collection? Does that mean there are more than one collections a day? Here just one!

Here there's only one at home, but usually two or three at the post office.

Last collection? Does that mean there are more than one collections a day? Here just one! I know here in warrington there's only one a day at 4-5.30pm and 11-11.30am on weekends. I'm not sure if there is more than one at the main post office, I think there's only one but it's later.

I believe the US is the same way. The collection times are listed on the door you pull of the collection box or on the outside.
