On more than one occasion in the past few weeks, letters I have posted in the UK to the UK with 1st class stamps have taken up to 3 days to be delivered!!! Why am I paying 1st class then??

There were roadworks on the M6, and some mail was delayed getting to the wherever-it-goes-to-be-sorted-place-after-being-collected-from-the-postbox, and missed onward connections to get delivered next day. However, nothing mentioned in the current service updates from Royal Mail about that.

(Just like the USPS). Sigh.

this is why i never bother with 1st class stamps unless i receive them for free. they all seem to take 3-5 days regardless of which stamp you use.
