I've hung onto various stamps that have caught my eye over the years and they are scattered about. The last couple of years of corresponding has me saving anything of interest but they aren't organized. I have a book and a number of stamps from the early 1930's that I've been pulling out sporadically since I was 10.

I also inherited a stamp collection, from my grandfather. Mostly stamps from the 30's to 60's, from Germany, Poland and Spain, I imagine this is where his penpals/friends lived as I don't know of any relatives there. I have been saving stamps from my own letters ever since but I haven't done any organizing. Recently I bought some cheap lots of stamps from ebay to use in crafting, journalling and envelope decoration and got some really pretty ones, lots of Olympic stamps too! Looking forward to adding them to letters during the next olympic year. I recently started collecting airmail labels too!

Did you hear the joke about the unstamped letter? You wouldn't get it.

I was about 8 or 9 when my mother bought me a Harris album and a orange bag of stamps at a local hobby shop in the mall. I remember spending hours on end soaking stamps and hinging them in the appropriate spot in the album. From time to time, my mother would bring me back to the hobby shop and let me pick out a packet or two of stamps that they sold, either by country or topics.
Also at the time, my mother worked at the local natural gas plant. She would process the incoming mail and would save the stamps for me. Wow, did I collect a lot of US stamps at that time and still have all of them mounted in my American Heirloom albums. I cherish them the most, because she would bring them home to me and I would soak them and find the right spot to mount them in.
Well I started high school and the stamps went to the way side. College, marriage and kids came and I forgot all about that collection. On day in 2008 I was going through some old boxes of stuff and came across that collection. Man did I get excited again. Since that day, I have been actively collecting and havent stopped.
My collection has grown tremendously and the friends that I have made along the way, I will always treasure......

Yes I collect stamps. I started collecting stamps in school days. But it continued for 2-3 yrs only. Later on due to college and other serious stuff of life I could not continue it. Now I have re-started my stamp collection.
I collect India, Australia and Great Britain Stamps.
I also collect stamps on following themes - Stamps on Stamps / Post / Philately Birds Butterflies & Insects Transport (Automobiles, Plane, Ship, Cycle etc.)
I collect both Used and Mint/Unused stamps.
But climate conditions in India are not suitable for Mint/Unused stamps. So I am planning to keep only Used stamps. But it is difficult to get thematic used stamps.

I really, really like seeing and examining stamps whenever I recieve a letter, and I carefully store them on original envelopes along with letters inside to peek at them sometimes. I do have a huge collection of unused stamps, just for the joy of picking one that fits the receiver, the mood and certain envelope most perfectly. It might take several years to get them all used at this pace though, heh. So I'm a stamp fan, but not a proper collector at least.

I enjoy the aesthetics of nice stamps, and I save most of the stamps from the mail I get, but I'm not a collector. I send the stamps forward to swap partners who like to receive used stamps, or sometimes also use them for my own artwork.

My dad and I collected around 15 years back. He brought envelopes from work or those his friends gave him, I cut, soaked and organised. But then college..life happened..and I forgot about it. I restarted collecting last year after going through a stack of letters from my childhood penfriends (while deep cleaning my room ). I LOVE stamps.. For me, they are small pieces of artwork and I absolutely love colourful stamps or those with illustrations..I collect whatever I can though and dont throw away torn or damaged stamps that are pretty..these I use those for journalling/mail art. Going through the albums reminds me of my dad too <3. I collect mint stamp from my country and Ukraine..and mint or used of every other country.

I paid $300 last year for a beautiful collection of Australian stamps from way back, they are absolutely gorgeous. I bought them so I could make postcards from them. I will categorise them into their subjects and then make the postcards...someday soon
