Downloaded and tried it, almost like a version of Whisper or other photo + caption apps but with the focus on a few paragraphs vs a few lines. I didn't expect there would be a big collection of publicly viewable "letters".
Biggest annoyance is that fonts are fixed for each paper (background) design and text size or style options aren't available at all.
I dunno, it's kinda like when MS Outlook let you use text styles and HTML backgrounds for email. Mostly just makes it harder to read.
Handwriting is usually harder to read, too, but it seems different when a computerized bit of text is deliberately obscured with clumsy graphic design.
So, might be fun to use but lettrs aren't comparable enough to real letters to see it as competition or even an alternative. It's its own thing.

I'm having a quick look through them. They remind me of essays and soliloquies not written to anyone in particular, like some blogposts!

according to www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-radio-and-tv-23083784 published in 2013 Not sure how writing to the web is the "old fashioned way" but I did sign myself up for it. I wrote something last night but it still hasn't been "published"
