On the other hand, if you were, say, an 18-year-old woman from Fiji, your address will show up everywhere. TFL has written me again... There was a newsletter attached, and there were listed some address of girls from 20 to 30 yo (with some without this data) from only Italy, Ireland, Belgium and Philippines, a lot from Philippines, like 70% It seems as they collect only some kind of addresses... I don't trust it that much, because the site tell the story of an incarcerated man who met a woman via penpalling and than married her, but there are no USA addresses there. And Google can't find the site if you write "TFL" (or maybe that's just because I'm not American)...

There's probably some truth in here. (I knew, old age must have some advantages, sigh!) I noticed that many people have left their addresses in the "Seeking penpals" section. Even if it's not visible to non-members the barrier to get access to it is not too big. Therefore I'd suggest to replace the address by a "Please contact me via PM" note. Unless you're very old and ugly, of course... Or from Cleveland... (you guys are cracking me up)

This is very much political incorrect! I'm sure there are some absolutely lovely, faithful penpals, which are passionate about snail mail and fountain pens out there...

I personally don't put my address on websites. I was a bit dismayed that lettermo didn't have personal messaging this year. I would usually have some back and forth messaging before suggesting correspondence or giving my address, which I couldn't do this year. Also if someone didn't have friends or didn't have anything on their profile I would stay away from them. Then there was the individual that was on the lettermo website for the first time and had 130 friend, harvesting addresses? I am afraid that privacy is a thing of the past, with the white pages on line and apps giving your name to third parties etc.
And Serendipity when you are an old geezer (mature gentleman) like me you aren't likely to be receiving surprise letters. But privacy is a serious concern!!

I'm afraid that old, ugly fellows from Oklahoma don't get any unsolicited mail either. My address has been posted publicly since 2015 on Incowrimo and I've never had some hot young thing try to strike up a conversation with me to get money out of me (not that I have any). Of course I always answer those solicitation e-mails from Nigerian Princes with hair brained schemes of my own and they often end up blocking my e-mail address. In college I had an obscene caller ask what I was wearing and I replied "I'm buck naked, covered in used motor oil, with a pair of jumper cables hanging around my neck. What you got on?" He hung up on me and never called back again. I'm thinking maybe I should strike up a conversation with ieahleen so she can forward her unwanted mail to me so I can have a little fun with these guys
