It is about time I should add some addresses to my physical address book, but I don't put everyone in I have received only a couple of letters from. It has me thinking about how many letters exchanged it takes to call the sender a penpal. I know quite a few of you have taken part over the years in at least one of the February letter writing projects, LetterMo & InCoWriMo and have sent/received surprise letters. Many of mine have gone on to become long term correspondence and the senders are penpals.

On the matter of a personal address book, I used to have a physical address book for a long time but got fed up because I added & then crossed out so many addresses... it looked very untidy after a while. I now use a file system (with regular filing cards), and I also try to remember adding people's street addresses to the contact details in my e-mail address book so I have them handy when I travel.

The Contacts app on my phone is my primary address book but I use a Rolodex as a physical backup.
I won't add someone to either unless I've traded at least a couple of pieces of correspondence.

I will add to my penpal list if they ask and keep writing back. I have an excel spreadsheet to keep this list in check and is editable
