We’re all texters and typers now (sic - no "we all" are not), so if you can’t read that grocery list you scrawled, you are not alone. linkOn Reddit, the online platform where people go for advice, conspiracy theories and N.S.F.W. everything, there’s one “porn” community that’s just about the furthest thing from salacious you can imagine: “Penmanship Porn.” There, users share photos and videos of beautiful penmanship — their own or others. Additional Reddit communities in this constellation offer a safe place for users to post their indecipherable scrawls to be decoded by thousands of strangers. Emily Smith, 19, likes to keep Post-it notes scattered throughout her bedroom with important reminders. Generally, the notes are readable, but if she hurries, letters can morph together in a barely legible script. She was recently going through her stack of important reminders when she found a note she had written at least a year ago. Ms. Smith said she remembered thinking at the time that she should rewrite the note so it would be discernible but never got around to it. ...

Lovely posts, but I can't bear that every third image-thingy is an advert for something. (And I had to look up "N.S.F.W." which probably tells you how little time I spend wandering about the interwebs!)

Never been on Reddit before, but couldn't resist "Penmanship Porn". Lovely posts, but I can't bear that every third image-thingy is an advert for something. (And I had to look up "N.S.F.W." which probably tells you how little time I spend wandering about the interwebs!) Even a basic adblocker like ublock origin should deal with those, and I'd highly recommend using _something_. The web is a pretty dismal experience if you have to see every ad. I let them show on this site: it's a good service, they're not too annoying (tho they are animated, which is a no-no). I have no love for any social media site. Reddit has more than its share of initialisms. I'm still disapproving of some I consider silly like "InB4" (i.e., I'm the first one posting this comment, which I think lots of other people will say, but yay me I said it first). NSFW is pretty widespread, though, I guess, mostly on sites that aren't 100% SFW. Which of course depends on on your W. A lot of what I got out of fountain pen forums 10 years ago now seems to have migrated to reddit. It's much harder to search. But then, FPN, which had become something of a knowledge database, nuked the value of half its reviews by updating the forum software (LONG overdue) without finding a way (or hiring someone) to propagate the image links from the old software. Ya gotta love reading an ink review with no photos. FPgeeks is still around. I haven't decided which costs me more money, forums or reddit. I find reddit less "sticky", so probably that. Lately I've been into electronics tech and happy with the pens I have. 2023 I think has had three new pens. Two from AliExpress (X159 and a Lamy 2k clone) and the antique brass Asvine off Amazon. The hobby has been so in the back seat that I now have a letter that I've paused in the middle of for two months. Really gotta finish that and move on.
