I’m with you Rouge, I wouldn’t think to connect letter writing and social media stuff. They’re just totally disconnected parts of life for me. Having said that, I hardly ever post anything of social media, so I might not be a very relevant example. How interesting! For me, letterwriting was a main reason to join social media at all!
That being said - it's a good thing we all are different. It would be a boring old world if we all were the same!

I was kindly asked for permission to post a snippet of a letter I had sent, since I had drawn an illuminated first letter and used an unusual ink. They showed me the photo first which was properly cropped to not reveal any contents of significance. I feel this is the best way if at all. Otherwise, not acceptable.

I recently started writing to a woman I found on IG, and I've noticed that she shares picture of letters (incoming and outgoing) there. Based on this thread, it seems I wouldn't be out of line to ask that she doesn't share identifiable text on IG. (I don't think neither my handwriting or stationery would be spectacular enough). A letter is a personal conversation and I don't what that open for the entire world to see. As an update on this, I did write in my letter that I wished she didn't share letters on IG. The image was removed before I sent my letter, I guess someone else asked as well, and there were no worries. Plus it lead to an interesting discussion on IG and sharing, and I hope a letter from her will find me soon.
