That is a great piece! I went to give it a quick glance and wound up reading the entire (rather lengthy) article

Thanks for the link. The article certainly says a lot about Mr. Rogers, but also says a lot about how important letter writing can be in our lives.

I loved this article - and cried several times when reading it.
I really miss that aspect of pre-email/pre-internet times: all the letters my local or met-in-person-friends used to write to me. I absolutely adore this group, but that fact that I have to sign up for pen pals - it seems a little sad that we're the only ones still committed to the epistolary art....

This was interesting to read. I had never heard of Mr.Rogers, but now I wish I'd seen his show as a child I also watched a video "The best of Mr. Rogers" in YouTube, and he seems to have been a truly inspiring person. So thank you mailartist, for introducing me to him! Next I'm planning to watch the film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood with Tom Hanks starring as Mr Rogers

I got through the article with just a few sniffles. My mom's family is from Latrobe, where the Fred Rogers Center is located. I have never made the time to go there when visiting my family. I need to do that. What a wonder, kind and generous soul he was.

I was aware of Mr. Rogers, and had seen a bit of the shows, but as a twenty year old I didn't really get it. Later I understood the show as an icon of children's TV. But it wasn't until I discovered Joybubbles that I really understood the significance of Mr. Rogers. If you don't know Joybubbles, he's one of my heroes of innocence. There's a great interview here. explodingthephone.com/docs/dbx0972.pdf He's a blind autist of eternal childhood and phone phreak fame. The reason I mention Joybubbles here, is that one time he saved all his money so that he could travel to Pittsburgh to visit the Mr. Rogers archive and view every single episode then available. Joybubbles knew the true value of the Mr. Rogers shows.
