I do have some fragrant samples, although I didn't really notice the smell on the one I tried. J. Herbin inks. I'll try again later and report back.

I have a bottle of De Atramentis Elderberry, which I got for the color. The scent is mostly noticeable in the bottle, but not really on the page. I have had it in a pen for extended periods of little to no use, and it would always start right up (good pen, but still). I get more bouquet from using espresso as a dip pen ink.

I got the impression all the scented ones are for the benefit of the writer and don't linger on the page. But have never used any myself.

Interesting...I might have to try the espresso idea Best to use a dark roast if available, or just let it evaporate until you get the strength of color you desire (I warm mine on the machine to reduce).

We do drink a dark roast coffee and there is sometimes a little left in the bottom (depending upon how desperate I am feeling) which I might try. Thanks Matt! One more note - I write on Tomoe River paper, so I’m not sure how others work (possibly really well if it doesn’t feather on it).

Years ago I bought samples of both a “cigar” and a “whiskey” scented ink. I noticed it but the pen pals all reported no aroma remained.

Whiskey scented, eh? Lovely - although that might interfere with my dram of scotch while I'm writing. This has me thinking of alcohol based inks in a completely different light.

This is a completely different tangent. What if you were to add scent to your stationery box, aftershave or perfume (perhaps on blotter paper) or potpourri? Would the scented stationery hold its fragrance better than using a scented ink? I've noted scented inks but never purchased any. Would you like receiving a scented letter?
P.S. I love scents but my wife doesn't use perfume, it makes her sneeze.

I tossed a scented sachet sample that I got in the mail into a box with stationery when I was clearing off my desk. I wasn't thinking about it scenting the paper, but when I got the paper out, it smelled great so I used it. A recipient was sensitive to it, so I make sure my paper remains unscented. I love scented letters. It adds to the enjoyment, but maybe it is best to ask before sending.
