I found a link on Fountain Pen Petwork to a video showing how to convert a cartridge to an eyedropper filler. Here is the link: www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/324833-new-kaweco-sport-converter-the-nightmare-continues/?hl=%20kaweco%20%20sport,%20%20germany,look for post #13. I actually did the same thing before I found the video. I cut off 5/8" off of the back of the cartridge, cut the appropriate sized ink sac (one that will fit over the cartridge) to 1 3/4", put sac cement (shellac) on the cartridge, and slipped the ink sac over the cartridge so it came about 1/4" down. You need to be sure the ink sac installed doesn't bump up against the end of the barrel when it is installed. Another solution is to make the Sport an eyedropper filler, you will need to put some silicone grease on the section threads before you screw on the barrel to prevent leakage. Simply fill the barrel with ink and insert and screw on the section and nib.

I think if I did that I'd cut down a converter rather than a cartridge, as they have more durable openings. Harder to cut, but I'm sure I could figure something out (razor saw, #33 xacto blade, file). Or you can just cut down the converter knob and either syringe fill that or try to fill with the shorter piston travel. Seems like a lot of trouble vs just refilling a cheap black or blue cartridge, but hey, playing around with stuff like that is part of what makes this hobby fun. And some people think just breaking out a syringe (or transfer pipette) is a big deal, so hey, that's excitement if it's your first time What I have used a cut-down cartridge for was to put backwards in the barrel to limit how far the installed cartridge could "fall" if a drop or something detached it from the section. That can get pretty firmly wedged in the barrel. My favorite so far is a more generously cut down cartridge holding the spring from a ballpoint pen. I'd also love to find a piece of metal or other heavy thing that was the right shape and size to go in the back since the plastic sport is a little light and front-weighted for my taste. I have an opaque sport from way back that has a factory-installed metal piece. Probably the right sizes of magnets from K&J would work. Though, then, if I was unlucky, the pen could end up slamming itself up against some piece of metal or other magnet and crack the barrel. But, hey, bonus 'fridge pen.

Hmm, interesting idea... I think I've got a piece of brass rod stock laying around that's about the right diameter for an international cartridge. I've had carts come loose twice in my sport. Maybe I shall try to make a brass plug to take up the extra space in the back of the barrel.

I have a Kaweco Sport and I like using it with cartridges. The nib is really smooth, especiall considering the price point. It has a good flow with Monteverde, Kaweco or Faber Castell cartridges. It's great for travelling. It was my go-to work pen living in my apron pocket when I worked retail.
