I learned of a local letter-writing social but apparently it's limited to Instagram users only (??). My ideal would be one stationery/greeting card store being a fixed location and attendees receiving notices by email. Yesterday an online acquaintance told me his grandmother might be wanting penfriends. I thought of the assisted living homes near me and how they might like a letter-writing social, a communications medium they're familiar with, not requiring ambulation, not a lot of noise. Forgive me for posting this: I am sure without even checking that it's been posted else(w)here -- my penfriend's spouse was interviewed in this Yes! Magazine article about pen pal clubs. A photographer assigned to cover the event was in attendance, but a stock photo of an inked-up millennial was used instead.
