What beautiful pen holders!!!! Do you ever use the oblique pen holders for correspondence or are they just for calligraphy? I've been collecting fountain pens for 6 years because they are beautiful and functional. Now I see your penholders and, hmmm.....a new collection coming on! Do you make your own pen holders?

I only use oblique pen holders for correspondence when using a dip pen. The angle makes it easier to flex on the down strokes when writing cursive slanted to the right. One might imagine it feels weird, but the actual tip of the nib is centered on the line of the holder, so you essentially just write with it. Katiel has a nice vertical printing style, so a straight holder works great for that. Here is the oblique pen that I had made for me: LINKThis guy does all custom work, so you can specify a style and materials. He also offers some basic holders for people just getting into it and not wanting a full blown custom piece. I haven't turned a custom holder out of wood on a lathe, but I have made them out of baking polymer clay. Here is a special one I made for my sister-in-law: LINK

So I am sooooo excited. I got a beautiful new dip pen from dippens.net. Okay, okay, confession: I got two. They were so beautiful though, and I couldn’t decide between them. At that price, I couldn’t just leave one behind.
Now that they have arrived (last night!), I’m SO glad I got both - they are absolutely stunning. I have absolutely no regrets. As soon as I figure out how to post the pictures on here again, I’ll be sharing them. They look and feel amazing and I am so happy.
I played around with them last night (and the new kind of nibs they came with, that I had never tried before - they were ok, but I happily switched back to my G nibs afterwards. They may not be as pretty, but they work better for me). I’m hoping to find some time today to write a letter with one of these pretty new pens. Now... how to decide which one to use...?

I think I finally have this figured out! Now lets see, if these pictures show up... One is made of Ironwood, Olivewood, and African Padauk: And the other is made from Blackwood, Mesquite, and Desert Ironwood: The pictures don't even begin to do them justice - in real life the wood grain almost shimmers and glows. They are absolutely gorgeous. The Desert Ironwood one almost looks alive. Here is a picture that shows the true colors a little better, but the camera still didn't capture the shimmery glow-y quality of the woods. If that link doesn't work, I'll include a different link to the picture below. But these pens are a true joy to write with. I love them sooooo much. Pen Picture

So, I may have just bought this: And since I'm buying one, with shipping, I just may as well buy two. So he's holding off on shipping this one until I choose one from his next set of completed pens to go with it. Do I have a problem? I can't decide...but I do know I'm one happy girl.
