love this question! sgtstretch - i like this idea. may tweak it as i have a bunch of disks and a punch. will have to give this more thought. @murfie - oooh why didnt i think of that. genius idea distractedmom - kindred twitcher! thats why i dont use an address book Monkey - i tried the pencil route but i guess the paper was coated so i couldnt get all of the pencil removed, which caused twitching I have an index card box filled with 4x6 index cards and everyone has an index card. on the front i list legal name with names they go by in closed parenthesis followed by address, phone number and email address (if i have them) and forum and forum names. on the reverse are any additional info (bday, anniversary, kids and animals names, fave colour, hobbies etc). if they move they get a new card and the old card may be trashed or turned around and stuck in the back of the file. If i need to, i will just remove them all from the card file (sans dividers) and secure with a rubber band. i have used this method for 16 years and it helps keep my OCD tendencies in check.

I was just thinking, 'I don't HAVE an address book. I just look at the return label for my correspondence!'
And then I lost an envelope. And another.
So now I'm thinking, 'What kind of address book will I use?'

Oooh, skye, I kind of love this idea, especially to help keep track of pertinent info.

Something easy, if you already scan your outgoing, is to put the return address label on the scanner with the letter, or even scan the whole envelope as one of the pages. If your files are named for the person you're sending to, it sort of makes an address book.

I keep a combination of both a written address book and an address book on the cloud. The written address book kins to contain the address is a friend who I know in person where is penpals and family members are generally going to be located on my address book on the cloud. And I like many people note right in my address book with pencils so I can erase addresses.

I bought a Gorjuss Address Box - a card file for addresses. A couple of photos are up on Instagram, plus one of them is also in the FB group.

My address book is a A5 ring binder. Recently made a cover with a sheet of paper fabric I made a while back.

I use a spreadsheet saved on my computer to store my penpals' addresses.

I use a spreadsheet saved on my computer to store my penpals' addresses. Me too. It's not pretty, but it is functional.

Apple Contacts App as a separate group. I'll save correspondence in the envelope it arrived in so I can look at that as well.

I can never seem to keep a journal alive, much less an address book - but I find myself using google drive and creating a document to act as an addressbook, and is then available to me on whatever device I use even when traveling. I keep two tables going simultaneously, the first of correspondents active, the second table being correspondents only occasional or inactive.
