A couple more rolls of washi tape finished up, so of course I needed replacements. Yes. Same here... and of course, I got more than just 'replacements'... Where are the washi-tapers anonymous when you need them?

Used up the last of one roll of washi tape, several label sheets, and some stickers while decorating some envelopes this afternoon.

Finished off my first correspondence record book and started a new one.
It is fun looking back, was a slow slow start I just wrote to a few people. When I started there were perhaps 10 letters listed on a page. It was interesting seeing names of people I no longer write to but also people I have been writing to since I started in 2007. Closing the book I now have listed 30 letters per page and filled seven pages per year. Hope I can continue just as long with my new record book.

I am on my third log book penguy. And I agree, it’s interesting to see what names have been there the entire time I’ve been writing and which have faded away. I have tried to contact the ones who went radio silent, not to make them feel guilty, but just to say “Hey! I still think of you!” I’ve found that my output has slowed down, but I still find so much joy in it!

I am on my third log book penguy . I do the same and have reestablished contact with a number of people. Life just happens, one fellow's wife had cancer and they had been dealing with that, so he hadn't sent any correspondence. Then there are others to find that their lives are busier after covid. It is fun looking back and corresponding again.

Unfortunately, I have also found out that one penpal had passed away in the meantime (I googled her before writing, and I got an elaborate obituary as a result!). She was 10 years younger than myself. That was difficult to digest.

My logbook is squared Whitelines notebook and has 39 lines per page. When I get a letter I put down the date I received the letter and the name of sender and when I mail off a reply I add the date. I also add abbreviations if it is appropriate : PC for postcard and CC for Christmas card. Any entry that does not have an abbreviation is assumed to be a letter. If I look back and find an entry without a sent date I know I haven't replied to the letter. So, any notebook or journal will work I do not know of any special log book.
Sample:
PC 9/3/2024 Who Ever 9/20/2024 (I received a postcard and sent a letter to Who Ever)

I haven't kept a log in a really long time. I probably should since I am trying to reply to a stack of letters and have no idea who what when where or how, much less WHY
I finished off a book of Western Wear stamps - I really, really hated the Western Wear stamps when they came out, but it turns out that they are great for Postcrossing when you send out "Texas" postcards.

Wait, what are these log books you speak of penguy , and distractedmom ? Where do you get one? How do you use it? I think I need one! I just use a regular, fountain-pen-friendly notebook. It’s another excuse to use my pens. When letters arrive, I write down the pen pal’s name and address and note the date of arrival. When I reply, I note the date I mail the reply. It helps m keep my letters in order. It’s also interesting to see how long it took a letter to get somewhere.

Two washi tapes, some letter writing paper and a pen have all kicked the bucket!
