I haven't received a single item by mail for the past 3 days although I saw my mail carrier making his rounds this morning. I have no clue if it has anything to do with COVID-19 or not but as far as here in OK I doubt it. I think the reduced International and/or domestic flights would be having the biggest effect on mail movement if there is any. If more than the 2 current cases start to appear here then I could foresee a general slow down due to carriers and sorting employees coming down with an infection.

I've gotten mail, though nothing interesting here in Canada, and nothing aside from a US letter at my US PO box on Friday.
I know mail I've sent to the US from Canada in the last two weeks is trickling its way to mailboxes.
Things might slow down a bit (especially where air service has been suspended between countries, e.g. Canada has no flights to South Korea, Italy or China right now), but stuff will get to where it's going.

Perhaps it would be a good idea (at least with letters to folks on the board here) to PM the recipient when a letter goes out, especially with international mailings, where the reduction in passenger flights can't help but cause delivery delays.
I know there's some charm in getting a surprise letter, but on the other hand, it might be nice to know that there really are some things in the pipeline, even if the pipeline becomes quite constricted, especially as countries are dealing with more critical issues. Getting 5Qs into post boxes might be the least of their worries.

No delays here as of yet. I’m really hoping that all of the colleges that are shutting down and all of the big events that are being postponed will help keep it down to a dull roar here.

No more licking my envelopes, I'm sure going to miss that nasty glue on my tongue.

Should we put our letters in the micro wave for a few minutes before opening them? Or even sending them?

Should we put our letters in the micro wave for a few minutes before opening them? Or even sending them? In all seriousness, viruses can't survive more than a few hours on paper. It's all good. On plastic or certain metal surfaces, the virus can apparently survive about four days. That's about best-case scenario without a living host.

I may have to temporarily reduce the amount of tape I apply to my postcard/letter mash-ups or put a virus expiration and/or do not open until date on outgoing mail. I'm still sick, I think this is day 10 or 11, and although I go to bed each night hopeful that tomorrow will be the day I wake up on the mend so far I live in a constant state of disappointment. I'm still as sick today as I ever was.

I'll be sending a lot more mail because letter writing becomes the easiest hobby to do if my kids are home from school (and I expect at some point, our school will close for a few weeks). Last time they were home from school for a week because of illness, I sent 12 letters! LOL. At least the weather is getting nicer and I can send them outside to play when it's not raining.

So far, I don't notice any delays. But I reckon it's only a question of time. Mail carriers will get sick, too, and with flights going less frequently, there'll undoubtedly a backlog eventually.

Went to the Point Roberts post office today, two hours before reading news from my province Ministry of Health mandating two-weeks work and school self-isolation for people crossing into the US. Glad I filled up the car. I don't believe the two weeks mandate is retroactive.

Gary take care of yourself.
With trans Atlantic flights fewer I wonder how mail from the States to Europe and from Europe to the states will take longer. Does the USPS transports mail on passenger planes or cargo planes or both?
