I just used up a sheet of Mariachi stamps (I’ve been using a lot of those lately!), and a sheet of brush rabbits (additional ounce…I mostly use them for adding to two regular stamps to equal international postage). I’m dangerously close to finishing off the first of my Christmas Elves booklets of stamps (postage for one card left!)(starting to get some of my international christmas cards out in the mailbox today!). Stamps are the only thing I’m using up lately. I have so much of everything else, that I’m not very close to using any of it up yet. Haha!

Are your reasons the same as mine? Nope! Jeff has never invited me to go cycling, kayaking etc! I laughed out loud at this. What a shame since he always suggests the funnest outings, I’m sure you’d enjoy them. 🤣😂🤣

So normally, I’m a big letter writer in summertime. I love taking a little time each day to go outside, sit under my favorite tree and write a little bit each day. Sometimes it’s a half hour, or if I’m lucky, an hour. But I really love taking the time to enjoy both being outside and writing to my pen friends. So, on average, I write a letter every day, or one letter every 2 days. I write a lot, and I love it!
But this past month, life has been so crazy busy (with a mix of really fun stuff, big projects, and a few unexpected catastrophes), that I’ve only written 3 letters (one of them very short) this entire month! And when I do have a little free time, Jeff and I keep doing fun summer things - like paddle boarding on the lake, mountain biking, hiking, or kayaking. Suddenly, summer is almost over! Where did the time go?
(meanwhile, I think nearly all my penpals have written this summer, and my reply pile is overflowing - apologies to everyone waiting on a letter from me, I promise I’ll start writing some replies soon!)
So my question is: which type of Summer Writer are you? Prolific: writing much more than usual? Or Postponed: delaying your replies until the summer is over (and kids are back in school?). Are your reasons the same as mine?
I guess there might be a 3rd category too, Unchanged: the summer season doesn’t affect your writing habits at all. I think I’m both Prolific/Postponed, as I was a pretty Prolific writer in June and July, but I was definitely a Postponer in August.
So which one are you?

I’m on a roll! I just finished two different sheets of return address labels this week! (One was foxes and bears, and one was nature scenery/sunsets)

There have been several new “graves” added to the Stationery Graveyard here the last few days. First up, was a roll of gardening-themed washi tape, then a sheet of Mighty Mississippi stamps, then a sheet of International daisy stamps, and a sheet of Brush Rabbit stamps, too. Lastly, was one of my favorite packs of stationery, which featured envelopes, ink, and dip pen designs on the paper (used the last sheets on a letter to Bob here, no less), I’ll miss that pretty paper.
It’s not that I wrote particularly much the last few days (I barely had time to write at all), but apparently, I was just down to the last bit on all these things.

I love the idea of this! I’m close to using up a few things, and will certainly commemorate them here, when they are gone.
RIP to your tree washi tape.

Hello When I try to get on the pen pal correspond part of the forum this come up not sure why You do not have permission to access this board. It also said there was a error This is because this part is locked for new members (to protect members from bots and unknown lurkers), after you make a few posts, this part of the forum will open up to you. So I’d recommend looking at some old threads (or the new ones) and commenting on those. Pretty soon, you’ll be able to view that section, too. 🙂 Also, welcome to the forum!😊

Is using rubber bands a good idea to keep archived or received mail together? I used to do this, but after a few years the rubber bands dried out and cracked and parts of the rubber band were stuck to the envelopes. It came off, but left a mark. Now I bundle the letters together with ribbon (nothing fancy, just the cheap rolls of Offray “satin” ribbon that you can get at any craft store, in any solid color - last time I bought some it was 33 cents a roll. But it’s been several years since I bought some, since I inherited my second mother’s huge stash of ribbon when she passed, so prices might be a little higher now?)

Okay, so just running this by everyone to make sure I’m not crazy. I really like the new Sunflower Bouquet stamp (2 ounce) and matching Tulip stamps (1 ounce). If I use one of each (78 cents + 58 cents), I could put them on an envelope to mail an international letter, right? That would be $1.36 (and international postage is $1.30). There’s no problem with using a 2-ounce stamp as international postage, right? Should be fine. Awesome, that’s what I thought, but just wanted to make sure it wasn’t faulty logic on my part. I ordered a sheet of each of these. Plus some African Daisy international ones, and the mountain floral ones. 🙂

Good idea! I removed the website from the quotes in mine. We can add it back in later if it turns out to be legitimate.

I loved the Espresso and Message Monsters ones! I was also disappointed that Sun Science didn’t make the cut, as those are my favorites. But…I did like the Heritage Breeds ones too…I ended up going back and getting more of those, twice. So I guess I can’t argue too much, with those ones currently winning.

Wait, where did you get these??? I want more sharks too! I have some very sharky envelopes that are just *asking* for these stamps! <website link removed for now> Wait, is this a legit site? It has USPS logos and banners, but the site ends in .com instead of .gov Hmmmm… Edit: I think the USPS website is a .com, now that I think about it. Isn’t it? But this is definitely a separate website? So I’m still not sure. Have you used them successfully before?
