Anybody received a wax sealed envelope from me? Id be interested to hear how they cope through the mail system. Yours came though nicely to me. The sides look flattened a bit by a machine, a small bit of red smear to the right as I look at it. Like a heavy roller went over it side to side. Overall quite OK though.

Anybody received a wax sealed envelope from me? Id be interested to hear how they cope through the mail system. Your 22Aug2015 letter arrived 04Sep2015. The wax seal survived with a bit of abrasion on the raised ring in a couple of spots. Surprising considering the whole seal is a good 2-3mm high.

I'm beginning to wonder if the staff at warrington mail centre hate me, your all receiving your seals in one piece and all the ones I get have been massacred!

This was one of my early attempts. A previous one to this, the wax was aflame as it fell onto the envelope, but luckily no fire.

Mia, nice looking wax seal set. The ones here are just the seal and a wax candle (like your three sticks but with a wick in them)
I suppose it takes a few goes to gauge the right consistency to heat the wax to and how big a blob you need for your seal.
Mrs Bogon likes playing with wax candles ..... maybe I could outsource wax sealing letters to her.

Mia, I always have flaming wax fall on the envelope and, in fact, encourage it. Except for rare occasions when the envelope paper is exceptionally thing the flame stays burning on the wax until I blow it out. BTW if memory serves Brian Goblet has a video on how to do the wax seal and I learned a lot from it.

One of my pen pals warned me to insert photographs and photocards into the envelope facing the front of the envelope, because the sometimes burning wax had marred the face of the photograph when inserted the other way around.

The new seal coin.... ... I'm not sure how much use I'll have for it!

I always use a wax seal when sending letters, except in the middle of Summer, when temperatures exceed 110F.
I have around 5 or so with different symbols on, but my regular one has my name and a heraldic eagle.
