For labels, if I haven't got sticky labels, I use anything papery I can stick to the envelope with glue and/or tape.

Got low on envelopes six days into INCO... Just turned a Charlotte chart and a Cincinnati chart into 22 envelopes The only trouble is that they are so busy with lines and colors and words and such, that I need to put an address label on them just to have a blank spot for the to-address. And I'm out of address labels rrrgh I kind of like the look of the address label on a busy envelope. I especially like it when I take the time to type out my address with my vintage typewriter. But like Mia said, when I'm in a pinch, a white piece of paper and some Scotch tape will do the trick.

I've recently started making my own to send; I unglued a couple envelopes and traced around them onto cardstock and cut that out to make a template. So far, I've only used 12x12 scrapbook paper. I've got a WRMK envelope punch board but for the life of me cannot figure out how to use the dang thing, even after reading tutorials and watching youtube :/

I've got a WRMK envelope punch board but for the life of me cannot figure out how to use the dang thing, even after reading tutorials and watching youtube :/ Just got one of those since Michaels had a really good sale on one but haven't tried using it yet. Hope I have better luck. Not really clear what it helps with since you need a paper cutter, in addition, to cut the paper to specified dimensions to start with, and I already have a corner rounder (which is an optional touch anyway). But... lotta good reviews so gotta be good for something I figure.

I make my own enveloppes, but the complicated part is to find paper to make them. Now I buy origami paper for this, but I guess some day I will have seen all the possible sheets designs from this brand. White paper is not bad, but the way I make it ... Huuuum ... I don't like it with one-color paper.

I might could put together a tutorial of sorts...

I've been using the WRMK punchboard for a few years now. I don't follow the instructions exactly though, that only works if your paper is 100% square, and since I'm ususally cutting paper down to 8.5in x 8.5in, it's often not quite square. My procedure is as follows, and I use the A6 size instructions, so I start at the 3.75in mark:
1. Align first corner on mark, punch and score paper 2. Rotate paper 180 degrees. 3. Align corner on same mark as step 1, punch and score paper. 4. rotate 90 degrees, align score mark with the tab on the punch button. 5. If score line lines up with the punched spot on the end of where you are about to score, punch and score, otherwise 6. Adjust paper position so that the score line will be in a reasonably center location between where it should be, and where the punched space is. Punch and Score. 7. Rotate paper 180 degrees, repeat steps 5 & 6. 8. Use the backside of the punch to round off the corners of the envelope "tabs" then fold and glue.

I still haven't taken mine out of the package, but that's good to know. Silly me, I assumed it would have been designed to work with rectangles because, y'know, envelopes have to be rectangles. No non-machinable surcharge for me, no sir...

No non-machinable surcharge for me, no sir... The board takes a square sheet of paper and turns it into a rectangle envelope. I'm pretty sure I've used some of my handmade envelopes in letters to you so you've seen the end result.

No non-machinable surcharge for me, no sir... Even though you start with a square piece of paper, you still end up with a rectangle envelope. There is a guide that tells you how big to cut the square and where to place it in order to make different sized envelopes. It’s seems super complicated but once you do one, it all makes sense.

Ah, I see... still, the only time I have a perfectly square piece of paper is when I'm doing origami. Using the paper cutter at 8.5 comes close, but it's not exactly precision manufacturing. One of these days I'll try the thing I spent twenty bucks on.

I was just hanging out with some coworkers at lunch today, and one brings this very device to the table, demonstrates it and gives it to me, because she knows I write letters. She’s has been a craft instructor, even representing this company, so it was weird that she just plopped down with the exact envelope maker all of you are currently discussing. It looked pretty easy if you have a paper cutter that can measure the length you want to cut at.
