My favorite is Clairefontaine Triomphe. Just lined paper, handles fountain pen ink well. I've used a 1.1 stub on it, not sure how well it will take a plain old italic. The Maruman Report Pad in B5 is well suited as well though. By the way thanks for the ACHTUNG on the Life paper - I go into Manhattan to Kinokuniya across from Bryant Park to get some stationery and I've been tempted to get the Life paper since I've heard good things about it... a plain old italic is on the way so I'll be wary of getting that.

Paper & Picture has got a few designs with e. g. landscapes on offer. The size of the paper is A4 and I believe it is 80 or 90 gr/sqm, thick enough for a fountain pen. I bought from them one or two years ago. They ship worldwide. www.paperandpicture.de/index.php?page=categorie&cat=74

Mia (the admin here) recently sent me a letter on lined notepad stationery which had the faded parts of an old map around the edges. One of the shops in Sydney had some Italian stationery with 'Renaissance' style headers which looked impressive but costly. The old manly standby would be to use (or make up) your family coat of arms and motto and have that printed or photocopied on good quality paper. Do you know which shop? I would love to visit

I do like the landscape, nature, seasonal and floral designs. Oh, some of the new designs are very nice, indeed. Unfortunately, I still have too much stationery in stock. Need to write more letters...

Not fountain pen friendly, bleedthrough/showthrough++

alc3261, I feel somewhat sorry and guilty, because I mentioned that online shop first.

Can anyone recommend some fountain pen friendly stationery that is more suited for a guy? A lot of what I see is cute, but it doesn't quite seem to fit my style. I'm looking for something that doesn't have kittens, bunnies, butterflies, hearts, etc. I picked up some simple L!fe writing paper, but my italic nibs don't seem to handle it well. I am surprised that you find that italic nibs don't work for you on L!FE writing paper. I have a tablet (100 sheets) of what I assume to be the same paper and don't have problems with italic or for that matter XF flex nibs on the paper. I make my own stationery using such things as stamps I've received from pen friends (scanned in a row and used at the top), old fountain pen images, etc. I also add very faint lines and print on the L!FE writing paper, never had a problem. Are you using a crisp italic, cursive italic, or stub nib?

Fountain pens write well on Crown Mill Bond, and the paper makes a good impression.
My Pelikan M800 Broad nib custom ground to cursive italic by John Mottishaw writes well on Clairefontaine Triomphe.

Paper I enjoy writing on: - Graphilo
- Tomoe River
- G. Lalo (I especially love their envelopes)
Keep in mind that each recommended paper will take to pens, pencils and fountain pens differently from one another. Most paper and envelopes are gender neutral, but embellishments of stamps, seals/stickers, collage elements, drawings, ink pads and the like can swing it towards feminine or masculine. Stamps are also an important element to ornate an envelope. Remember, you can use vintage stamps too! Here's an example of a recent envelope I sent out. Not, masculine, but you get the idea of how one can dress neutral stationary. To keep it masculine, use geometric shaped or textured rubber stamps, traditional male colors for ink pads and washi tape. This is a look I'd like to explore, but I haven't amassed enough shape stamps yet to try it. Should be able to in another month or so. As a minor aside, I find that rubber stamps by Dan Wei lean towards neutral to masculine. I enjoy these stamps greatly!

I'd say Basildon Bond Champagne or Three Candles from WHSmith. They even do envelopes to match.

I am fan of Original Crown Mill. American Stationary provides some decent personalized letter/card stock for a decent price. Dempsey and Carroll in NYC is fantastic but very pricey.

I take some southworth parchment paper in ivory and laser print a custom pattern on sometimes. then I use a paper cutter to trim down to monarch size. Much cheaper than buying custom stationery. Any design you want (I have found clip art style to be effective). You can also have matching first page letterhead with a blank or second page custom design if you really want. Amazon black notebooks hold up to my fine nib pens well too. www.americanstationery.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=monarchwww.castlepress.com/page/monarch-letterheadThanks to all other posts here especially kansaskyle for the list.
