I love colour and I use all and every shade imaginable EXCEPT Diamine Golden Brown. That ink is a horror. Current pens are inked with Kobe Renoir Pink, R & K Cassis, Sailor Yama-dori, Kyo-no-oto #1 Nureba-ne-iro (black), Herbin Éclat de Saphir, Mb Daniel Defoe, Noodler's Navy, Omas Turquoise and the totally gorgeous, sheen-crazy Sailor Grenade. Why is Diamine Golden Brown a horror? Dry as dust, & I mean scratchy sand-dry, an insipid nondescript colour that is difficult to read, & it seems every pen I've tried/seen it in hates it. Never seen it perform legibly, except perhaps on über absorbent paper. No redeeming characteristics at all. Don't know what Diamine do to make this so awful.....Can you tell I don't like it? Lol. But of course YMMV, as always.

Interesting explanation. Hope you only bought a sample. I have had one correspondent write with it in a letter and it seemed ok, similar to Autumn Oak I thought. Thanks for sharing.

When I was growing up there was such a limited choice of colors so now I am like a kid in a candy shop. The one constant has been BLUE. I never met a blue I didn't like. A current favorite is Iroshizuku Tsuki - yo. I also love the warm browns made by L'artisan Pastellier.
