I was in this situation today. I took a letter that I was writing to the park with me, but I had forgotten extra decent paper to finish it up with. I happened to have college ruled notebook paper and went with that. It felt like I didn't but enough effort into my letter writing, but I also hadn't expected it to me that long of a letter. Has anyone else run into this problem? What did you do or what would you have done?

This never happens to me. Along with my 6-pen wrap and an 5x8 journal, I always carry a small 5x8 envelope with like 50 sheets of TR pen pal stationery, as well as my letters that still need a reply. That way I'm never in danger of running out! The fact that it is TR paper makes it light enough to lug around every day.

This is also why I had to place an order with you so I can take a few extra sheets with me. Curse you and your cute stationery!

I have one of those vintage leather writing folios to keep everything in when I'm out and about which is great as long as I remember to refill it!

I carry my correspondence folder with me everyday. On the rare occasions where I've been caught short, no big deal. I take the letter home to finish. I'm more likely to run out of stamps then paper.

I feel like I'm lacking something now. Not at all. Just don't let it bother you.

I feel like I'm lacking something now. Right, I'm thinking I need some kind of portable letter writing kit with paper, stamps, pens, etc.!

I feel like I'm lacking something now. Right, I'm thinking I need some kind of portable letter writing kit with paper, stamps, pens, etc.! JetPens has Lihit Lab "Teffa Bag in Bags" for A4 and A5 stationery that are fantastic for this purpose. I own one of each. Stamps get placed in a business card holder, which is then placed in one of the pockets.

I use a similar document holder to this blue one. Picked up, inexpensive at any office supply store. For loose paper sheets, Tomoe river pads or stationary. Makes sure they stay nice.

Sometimes I use the back of wrapping paper and once I wrote on the 'water' of a map. I like unusual bases for letters.

I use a plastic 14 X 15 inch ArtBin Super Satchel Slim Single Compartment Box-9100AB for a lap desk. It holds several paper folders with different kinds of paper and envelopes. I also keep stamps, guide sheets, a strip of removable painters tape (to hold paper in place) and a dip pen with ink and water vials in there. If that isn't geeky enough, I have led Christmas twinkle lights and battery pack taped to a heavy piece of white paper in the bottom for use as a light table to illuminate a guide sheet under heavy writing paper. I keep it in my car to write at lunch.
