Pelikan Edelstein Topaz is one of my favorite turquoise inks.

Wow! Lots to like here! (But don’t expect a Western Wear stamp from me just because I’m in Texas!) I'm guessing you'll be getting many of the Raven ones?

I ended up placing orders with Anderson Pens, Vanness Pens, and Pen Chalet. This week should be full of fun mail.

I'm watching to see who has what kind of sales for the day, and will probably be ordering some more inks. Because I obviously don't have enough.

I receive letters on historic stationery from one pen pal. Everything from old motel/hotel stationery to train companies and the last featured a Ken-L Ration dog food letterhead. Another pen pal sends letters on the back of old design sketches from 20+ years ago. I guess the absolute strangest thing I've ever sent a letter on was some single ply toilet paper. Unused of course. I haven't heard back from that particular pen pal so I may have gone a bit too far in my attempt at humor. Mostly I send odd sized letters attached to postcards or other stiffening devices. Would this be someone from Chattanooga, TN? I look forward to opening his letters, I love the old letterheads.

I will use either, but if I use blank paper, I have to use a lined guide sheet underneath. Otherwise my writing will start to fall down the page.

😁That's more or less me! I have a folder with all the hotel stationery I or my sister gathered, back when I used to collect lettersets! However I never use it to write... Should I? I think it's a fun enclosure. I have one pen pal to whom I often write using hotel stationery. It's become kind of a joke: we tend to send one another letters on paper that isn't great. One of my penpals picked up a stack of vintage letterhead stationery. He sent me one from a hotel/resort in Lake Placid, NY. I checked to see if the hotel still existed, and it does. And it turns out one of my friends did some marketing/promo photography for the hotel, and as I'm looking at the hotel's website, I'm thinking to myself "hmm, she looks really familiar."

I still haven't taken mine out of the package, but that's good to know. Silly me, I assumed it would have been designed to work with rectangles because, y'know, envelopes have to be rectangles. No non-machinable surcharge for me, no sir... The board takes a square sheet of paper and turns it into a rectangle envelope. I'm pretty sure I've used some of my handmade envelopes in letters to you so you've seen the end result.

I have sent: Baby olives dropped by my tree, feathers, ink samples, polaroids, calling cards, postcards, unused stamps, fabric swatches, a knitted mouse, Chinese Fortune Fish, bookmarks, word of the moment, and seeds, to name a few. Received: Tourist brochures, holy cards, music cds, crocheted objects d’art, news clippings, and part of a Pop Tart. You got part of a Pop Tart?

I've been using the WRMK punchboard for a few years now. I don't follow the instructions exactly though, that only works if your paper is 100% square, and since I'm ususally cutting paper down to 8.5in x 8.5in, it's often not quite square. My procedure is as follows, and I use the A6 size instructions, so I start at the 3.75in mark:
1. Align first corner on mark, punch and score paper 2. Rotate paper 180 degrees. 3. Align corner on same mark as step 1, punch and score paper. 4. rotate 90 degrees, align score mark with the tab on the punch button. 5. If score line lines up with the punched spot on the end of where you are about to score, punch and score, otherwise 6. Adjust paper position so that the score line will be in a reasonably center location between where it should be, and where the punched space is. Punch and Score. 7. Rotate paper 180 degrees, repeat steps 5 & 6. 8. Use the backside of the punch to round off the corners of the envelope "tabs" then fold and glue.

I only like writing letters on Tomoe River 52gsm paper. Since I wanted mermaid stationery, I designed my own and print it on A4 paper and cut it into A5 sheets. I buy my paper from Jet Pens or Amazon, 100 sheets at a time. I look for a price of less than $20 including shipping because the local Japanese book store has it for $25. I always have at least one unopened package of 100 sheets. I buy Mica envelopes from a shop in the UK 20 at a time when I get down to 40 envelopes. I bought a mermaid address stamp a few years ago so that my envelopes are coordinated and have mermaid washi tape. I use Paper for Fountain Pens for Tomoe River, if you're in the USA. I bought their letter writing pads, which are such a good deal if they're in stock. I haven't seen the letter writing pads in stock for 2 years now. Not sure what is going on, and if they'll continue selling.

30+? I can't resist writing to people. I'm probably in this range. I haven't counted my penpals in forever, and some only correspond a few times a year.

I've tried a few Monteverde inks. They are pretty nice, I have a bottle of California Teal, and its really well behaved. I did recently try a sample of Fire Opal, and I had crust issues also, somewhat typical of orange inks.

You can use whatever stamps you want, as long as the face value of the stamps at least equals the required postage value. So any letters that need a global stamp need at least $1.15, and if you wanted to use 23 5¢ stamps, you can.

I believe it is the Pilot Mixable ink, which is only available in cartridges as far as I know.
