Guess what, guess what, guess what!?! Guys, I have my very first dip pen! A super surprise package came in the mail today with a lovely letter written in blue ghost. Attached were a dip pen, a vial of blue ghost ink (eeeee!), vial of blue ink, and a packet of Tomoe River paper so I could try it too! I am ridiculously excited about this! Like sooooo excited. Thanks, MKB!

We’ll know you are having too much fun if you report that your fingers are now Yama-Dori teal blue.

YES! Follow the path to the dark side! I feel like I am teetering on the edge of the abyss. I keep repeating to myself “Do not go look at ink. Do NOT go look at ink.” But I feel the pull. The temptation is soooo strong. Jeff’s response when I texted him a picture of the new supplies was a laughing “Oh no!” And then he added, “I think gift shopping for you is about to get *really* easy.” Oh dear. It’s like he knows me, or something. We’ll know you are having too much fun if you report that your fingers are now Yama-Dori teal blue. I’m not sure what is special about this Teal (yet?), but I have a sneaking suspicion I might in the future...? What have you started??? Lol!

Blue is always better than red ink-stained fingers "I promise, that's not blood."

But with Yama-Dori you get two for the price of one, blue fingers with a red sheen! Love that ink.

I've toyed with dip pens occasionally. I've been using Speedball india ink. The ink is so thick that you can feel it on the page after you write. It's pretty amazingly black too.

Someone just placed their very first order for ink!!! (it was me!!!)
I went with Diamine for my first try. I’m super excited! I got Meadow Green, Cerise pink, Sunshine Yellow, and Lavender. Then for my free 5ml sample I got Ancient Copper. Did I mention I’m really excited?!?
Now I just have to wait (im)patiently for it to get here... (is it here yet?)

I just received my order of ink from Anderson Pens. I bought the Diamine chocolate brown, and I am loving it! I love the dark brown color, and it seems to flow effortlessly from my fountain pen compared to the cheap no-name ink cartridges I bought from eBay.

What company did you buy these from?

I bought directly from Diamine. Even with shipping and currency exchange it was only $20.03 for all 4 bottles (plus the little vial).

My inks have arrived! I spent a whole afternoon playing with them and decided if/not I needed to dilute them for the dip pen, getting the ink into dipping vials and mixing up my solutions. I may have even tried my hand at mixing inks (one color I sort of loved and am contemplating mixing up a vial full of it). I even wrote my first letter with my new ink! It looked pretty awesome. I’m ridiculously excited about this!
....but, I’ve discovered it’s somewhat unpleasant when your nib wears out. I have been playing with my new pen a lot apparently. New nibs ordered and on the way!!!
