Linn's Stamp News informs about a domestic postage rise, subject to approval. International mail stays the same.

Ahhhh.... I'll need to relearn my stamp math again. I love using older stamps along with the Forever stamps just to keep my mail interesting. I'll need to stock up on some different denominations.

I have been in doubt whether to post about the price increase for stamps in The Netherlands and I didn't because it made me sad Both domestic and international mail will be more expensive again...

Netherlands prices increasing much? The USPS ones are about 2%.
I don't think my stamp math will need to change, the new rates just mean that they'll get a few extra cents for international mail ($1.15) sent with the combos of 2 letter + additional ounce ($1.21) or two postcard + one letter ($1.20). I also use 1 letter + the special non-machinable stamp meant for square envelopes which is worth a letter stamp plus additional ounce (so 71c now?). The square ones are pretty butterflies so I was preferring that combo, but the seashell postcard stamps go nicely with the shark letter ones.

Domestic was €0.78 and will be €0.83. That's letters and postcards up to 20 grams. No additional charge for square postcards or envelopes. International was €1.33 and will be €1.40. Same rules apply

What I've never been able to figure out is whether US postcard stamps are "forever," too. In other words, a postcard stamp will mail a postcard, whenever, regardless of what the prices may increase to? Same question regarding "extra ounce" stamps.
I'm not sure about this because the postcard stamps often don't have the monetary value printed on them, even though they say "postcard."

6% for domestic, that's steep. Hope they don't do that too often. The USPS seems to change (raise) rates every other year.
Some time in 2015 both postcard and ounce stamps became available as forever. If it has no monetary value listed, it's one of those.

They’re “forever”, except for the ones that are letter-only (like A through G or something). Those are older stamps anyway and they do have a value, but I don’t know offhand how much those are worth.

So a USPS rate increase was approved on November 9th. Domestic letters and postcards go up 1 cent, and international stays the same.

Well at least 50c 1st class forever stamps won't mess up the international combos of two postcard + 1st class forever = international. It'll be 5c extra, but worth it for the pretty. If the extra ounce/non-mechinable doesn't go up then the two 1st class forever + ounce, or non-mech-letter (square butterfly currently) + 1st class will be 6c extra.
