We've touched the subject of lost letters here and there. Sometimes pen-friendships end because of that.
I would be interested to know, how many letters from and to you got lost during the last year (at least the ones you know of) and to/from which countries they were.

I had two post-related mishaps this year, both from the UK, actually both from the same friend. 1. An envelope arrived, completely empty. Both end of the envelope were open and the letter was gone. 2. My Christmas/Birthday package has yet to arrive. It's been a month.

I like sending mail to random strangers via Send Something and in 2016 I had a few unacknowledged mail, sent to Bulgaria, Slovakia, the Netherland, UK, Italy, India, Turkey. I never inquired about them so I don't know if my letters/postcards never arrived or if the recipient, for some reasons, did not let me know. So far this has not stopped me from sending random mail... Last year I sent mail to a girl in Germany, she never let me know she received it but I found her Instagram and she had a picture of her incomings, including mine! 😵 At least my envelope reached her :-)
As for my established pen friends and other mailings, no problems at all, except perhaps with one lady from whom I haven't heard since the summer and to whom I just sent a check-in email.

I recently heard from another person that she sent approx. 10 letters via Sendsomething, got back only 2 and never heard back from the addressees.

To the best of my knowledge, most of my mail gets to its destination. My problem has been with mail to and from Hungary. Letters sent by airmail have taken as long as 2 months to arrive and on occasion never arrive at all.

Only one letter, that I know of, went astray. That was an incoming letter from the US. That's a pretty good record I think, as I write & receive a lot of letters

I've never heard about any of mine being lost. If you wrote to me and I didn't write back, the letter was lost, as I reply to everything (eventually).

In November-December they lost 10 Christmas cards, one parcel from Spain and two letters to the US. Awful period.

Is there any chance that the letters and parcel are still travelling? December is only just over - and distractedmom wrote, for example, that a parcel from the UK to the US took 42 days.

I'm not too sure about the parcel, because two were sent together and one of them is here... about the letters, one of the members of the forum sent me a letter in July that never reached me. Unfortunately, 2016 was a really bad year for post and I'm hoping that 2017 will be much better.
