Many charities raise money by selling used stamps to dealers as kiloware. With your help, I would like to keep a list of charities collecting stamps, around the world.
UK has lots of charities, but here are a select few:
Great Ormond Street Hospital (in London, for children) (link removed, and I can't find a new one).
Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB)
RSPB for their Save the Albatross stamp appeal
Bone Cancer Research Trust
Bat Conservation Trust
A couple of directories listing charities and the addresses to send stamps to: Used Stamps For Charity and Waste Connect
www.recyclingforgoodcauses.org/stamps/ is also a middle-company working with various charities.
Rest of Europe
Bethel in Germany
Tubfrim helps children and youth with disabilities, and children and youth with handicaps in Norway, and to finance the efforts to eradicate tuberculosis.
Pidinger Werkstätten GmbH der Lebenshilfe BGL is a German charity (link is in German), for disabled people near the Bavarian Alps (so I have been told, elsewhere).
Canada
Oxfam Canada (incidentally, although Oxfam is also in the US, I can't find mention of them wanting stamps).
The Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace and in French - L'Organisation catholique canadienne pour le développement et la paix
USA
American Philatelic Society - uses stamps for educational purposes
The Postal History Foundation - uses stamps for educational purposes
Quad City Stamp Club in Moline, IL holds an annual auction to raise money for Stamp Out Cancer - this auctions seems to be held in spring.
"Stamps for the Wounded (SFTW) is a service organization dedicated to providing comfort and stimulating activity to U.S. veterans through stamp collecting. SFTW sends donated postage stamps and other philatelic material and supplies to wounded, ill, and isolated veterans. SFTW has been helping veterans since 1942."
Australia
GiveNow is a directory of some charities/organisations accepting stamps (they also have options of giving other items).
The Lions International Stamp Club in Australia collects used stamps, and sells to dealers. From another forum, "ALL funds raised go to provide walking aids for disabled children."
End Trachoma by 2020 is requesting used stamps, sent through Rotary. The link is to a facebook page with more details on.
Ireland
Barnodos Ireland
ISPCC (Irish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children)
IPCC (Irish Peatland Conservation Society)
Finland
Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission (Suomen Lähetysseura) in Finnish
