I used to hand make mine too (the amount of money that I paid to Stampin' Up! ) I loved it because it felt like a little gift I was creating. There's just not time anymore for that. And that question of whether or not people appreciate receiving them...I struggle with that. My husband has a large family and years ago, everyone used to bring their cards and exchange them at the gathering. Now I am the only one who brings cards and I feel like they are all rolling their eyes at me because I still take a card. I'd like to stop, but my husband doesn't want to. Ahh yes, Stampin' Up! purchases got quite out of hand. While I still love making cards (on a smaller scale), theres just not enough time to do more than say a birthday card every once in a while. Sad thing is that I still have way too many supplies. For me it isnt about receiving any but letting the recipient know I was thinking of them. If it is something you enjoy keep doing it, if they roll their eyes give them holiday postcards instead. lol. I think I will start planning on doing that for next year.

I have sent about 100 cards this year and have received about 10. That is acceptable because I don't really expect people to reciprocate. When they do I then will write them a letter in January thanking them.

Here in NL, much like elsewhere I suppose, sending Christmas/newyear cards is a tradition slowly fading away. I never really participated anyway, although my wife did the honors, until my snail mail correspondence started getting serious. This Christmas I sent many of my pen pals and many of my otherwise acquaintances a card. It seems to be more in line with my writing than years ago, but I liked doing it and plan to do so next year too! We also received some cards, though not as many as we sent. That's ok though, I'm quite sure the receivers are happy to receive mine, that's what it's about.

Apart from my brother-in-law and his wife who live miles away I don't really send cards out to folk I see regularly. For the past few years I've enjoyed sending cards to penpals and friends on forums I chat to. We even did a Secret Santa this year on the pet forum I'm a member of. I think next year I'll organise a Christmas card one like we've done on here because they're a lovely bunch of people just like this forum

I has been a tradition to start making XMas card as early as October. Due to illness and other reasons it slowly dwindled.
But...I send handmade cards to about thirty people last year. I never expect any back. Just love making and sending them.
Made my sisters, sisters-in-law and my best friends cushion covers some had XMas baubles and others JOY on them. Kept me quite busy, but it was fun.

Kept me quite busy, but it was fun. I used to faithfully send them out every year, but I seem to be getting sick more and more in November and December, so I think I've missed the last 2 years. I even got an email from a friend asking if I was okay because he didn't get a card from me! I have a friend who is thinking about sending New Years cards out instead of Christmas cards because it's just less hectic in January. I think that's a neat idea. A something little different. If I was more organized, I would start making my own Christmas cards too and starting probably in the summertime. I know I will do it one year.
