I've missed the casual and frequent term "postie" in everyday conversation.
Long ago, my Burmese cat, our majordomo, would relax on the front step on warm days. I'd jokingly command him "The postie's coming! Go kill! Kill the postie!" The postie would crouch down and croon, "are you a killer?" And my darling apex predator would look up and meow a gentle greeting.
