I sometimes pop in a card containing something that I know is of interest to the reader. Alternatively, I might enclose something pertinent to the content of the letter. For example, my last letter to writingrav contained a printed excerpt from a particular book that I mentioned in the letter. For pen pals that are into fountain pens big time, I might enclose a photo of a recent acquisition. I think it's just a matter of making a letter as interesting as one can.

writingrav - theyre awesome You can get them in the states? Trader Joe's has mini ones! Anyway, I normally tuck in teas and postcards. Since most of the people I write to are international, I try not to send too much. I actually has a postal clerk try to charge me a package price because it wasn't just a letter...It's still first class though...

With the thickness limit, I have to be careful if I squeeze in a tea bag to keep it at the letter rate. There is now a large letter rate, but is about £1 more (first band there goes up to 100g).

I love putting in "stuff" with letters. Always inteteresting articles in I know my penpal will like them, tea, postcards, stamps if they collect, brochures etc. I also love receiving all the extras. I love receiving postcards of where my penpals have visited, ads from the paper, beermats, ticket stubs etc. Just fun to see! Of course, I value the letter most. But it adds to the fun!

writingrav - theyre awesome You can get them in the states? Both Aldi and Trader Joe's carry them. And I've found them in international sections of grocery stores too. Here in Ohio they're at Meijer and Jungle Jim's.
