I love all these envelopes! I think I may give it a try. I have a few old Life magazines with some great vintage ads that would make fun envelopes. Off to Amazon.,..

I have never gotten the hang of this. I just print up cute address labels with the art from my stationery on it, but that's as far as I've gotten. The envelope art in this thread is AMAZING!

The We R Memory Keepers board makes folding paper into envelopes easy. I have already started on Christmas envelopes. The only criticism so far - it wants square paper, and I have some patterned A4. I saw a different envelope making thing and it looks a lot more complicated - you'd still have to snip those bits that get in the way. One correspondent sent me a roll on glue tape thing - works great on envelopes.

A second criticism - the board is not big enough for the bigger papers to score in one go, but fine for the 6x4 size and smaller.

While I started with it and it helped me learn the technique, I've pretty much abandoned it especially as square envelopes apparently cost more to post in the US and my pen pals were getting postage due requests. I just opened a couple of different size envelopes and use them as a template

writingrav I've been using the 4.5x6 size for A5 papers folded in half. In the 2nd column, it's the 5 from the bottom, above the A-6 size. That will give you a rectangular envelope.

I use mine to make the more rectangular envies (5x7 and 3.5 x 8.5)

Attention you artistic, envelope making people...........Please tell me what I am supposed to do here. I get these beautiful envelopes, even on the inside sometimes. How do I open these without destroying them? I recently received one that had been arranged so the back was a entire beautiful scene, the seams were 100% sealed and I had to study how to open it to save as much intact as possible. You all are amazing to this art illiterate. Thanks for sharing your talent, not to mention your actual letters.

I try to leave a small gap at the top, at each side of the flap, when I seal mine, big enough to get a knife opener into. That way the top edge can be neatly sliced open, preserving the envelope. But I know what you mean; I often get handmade envelopes that are sealed around every edge and are impossible to open without tearing chunks off them.

I'm very lucky. Migo is the envelope making wizard of the house so I get to use as much of what she produces as I want. In return she gets free use of Murfie's Nib Tuning & Grinding Services ... plus other treats.

I would give someone full run of my envies for nib tuning services (if said person was fairly decent at it)

I would give someone full run of my envies for nib tuning services (if said person was fairly decent at it) Ah well, I must admit that Murfie is pretty proficient at nib adjusting and tuning, so I think I get the best of the deal. As well as grinding some amazing stubs and italics, just this week he took one of my very bog standard, cheap Platinum Cool pens and tuned the steel nib into a super little writer. He's breathed new life into a neglected pen that's been sitting unused for about 2 years.
