I know what it costs to send stuff in the US, and internationally (plus there are a couple threads in this subforum on it based on weight).
What does it cost to send letters in country and out-of-country for others? Just curious since I know we have UK, Australia, and Japan represented (maybe others?).

Two years ago when I sent something internationally from Austria is cost (I think) 1,44 euros. The last letter I got from there the postage was 1,70 euros. Postage in Germany was a lot cheaper, so I ended up sending most of my post from Germany.

In Japan, air mail under 25g costs 110 yen, which is roughly one US dollar. National price is 82 yen I think, with postcards forming their own category costing 50 yen, 70 yen internationally.
Overall, the Japanese postal service is really good. Sending postcards at specific times has cultural significance, and the average citizen sends something like 30 cards each year, even the younger generations, so they have a pretty good thing going and don't have to keeping raising the price. They work weekends, too.

Postal rates in India are dirt cheap.
5 INR to send local letters, and 25 INR for international letters in a packet weighing up to 20 grams. For every additional 20 grams, it's 13 INR.
It's really, really, really cheap. I couldn't believe it could be this inexpensive!

I don't know what led me to do this; but here's an overview of what we are currently paying in CANADA in January 2016. Domestic Ratesfor letters less than 30g | .85 CAD | .56 Euro | .61 USD | for letters 30 - 50g | 1.20 CAD | .78 Euro | .86 USD |
to the United Statesfor letters less than 30g | 1.20 CAD | .78 Euro | .86 USD | for letters 30 - 50g | 1.80 CAD | 1.18 Euro | 1.28 USD |
Internationalfor letters less than 30g | 2.50 CAD | 1.63 Euro | 1.78 USD | for letters 30 - 50g | 3.60 CAD | 2.35 Euro | 2.55 USD |
Below is a breakdown of what our rates here convert to in several other countries. I mostly chose places I recieve and send mail to regularly just to compare. Although it's a bit much, personally I found it kind of interesting. (note: the two prices are for letters up to 30g and letters 30-50g) Country + Currency | Domestic
| to the United States | International |
Australian Dollar | .85 1.20 | 1.20 1.80 | 2.51 3.62 | Brazilian Real | 2.45 3.46 | 3.46 5.20 | 7.21 10.38 | Chinese Yuan Renminbi | 3.98 5.62 | 5.63 8.43 | 11.71 16.86 | Indian Rupee | 41.00 58.00 | 58.00 87.00 | 121.00 174.00 | South Korean Won | 730.00 1031.00 | 1031.00 1546.00 | 2147.00 3091.00 | Malaysian Ringgit | 2.50 3.54 | 3.54 5.31 | 7.38 10.62 | Phillippine Peso | 20.00 41.00 | 41.00 61.00 | 85.00 122.00 | Russian Ruble | 46.00 65.00 | 65.00 97.00 | 135.00 195.00 | Singapore Dollar | .86 1.22 | 1.22 1.83 | 2.54 3.65 |

I have the feeling Italy has the highest rates... under 20 grams: domestic 0,95 € Europe and Mediterranean area 1 € Asia, Africa and America 2,20 € Oceania 2,90 €. The rates skyrocket above 20 grams. I do not remember all prices but I think that, up to 50 grams, domestic mail is 2,55

Some of your domestic rates scare me. I wonder if it's because some of the countries listed are too small for automatic sorting to really save money over manual sorting or if your country doesn't use junk mail to artificially lower mail costs.
1 oz First Class letter- around 28g USPS -$0.49 USPS International - $ 1.20
Not going to list Courier services UPS/FEDEX cause a domestic letter started at $12 last time I checked

Well, Italian Post Service is not used for junk mail, most often I found flyer in my letterbox brought by bike or on foot by part-time workers. Here most apartment buildings have a common letter box for flyer and any kind of advertising outside even when the personal letter boxes are inside the building, or even "NO PUBBLICITÀ" ("no advertising") written outside the door (it never works). Only personal mail, bills and those few magazine which you could subscribe to.

Kindest regards, Timothy

Kindest regards, Timothy They are seriously considering plug in hybrids for city work here. Some of the more rural areas won't work but the coastal states have some real dense cities
